Southampton's 2-3 Defeat to Wolves Worsens Relegation Woes

Southampton's latest defeat against Wolves has left the Saints with just two points from their last six Premier League matches and now finds them firmly in the relegation zone, having lost four games on the bounce.

The defeat at St Mary's saw Southampton fall behind early on thanks to a well-worked goal by Raul Jimenez, who scored his first goal for Wolves since he moved to the club in January. The visitors then took control of the game and had several chances to extend their lead before Southampton finally found themselves behind again through a penalty from Adam Lallana.

Wolves continued to dominate the second half and were rewarded when Rui Costa headed home a cross from Ruben Neves to make it 2-1 to the visitors. However, the hosts refused to give up and came back strong with a goal from James Ward-Prowse, who latched onto a loose ball and slotted it past Rui Patricio.

It was then that things got really bad for Southampton as they conceded a third goal in the final minute of normal time courtesy of a long-range strike from Neves. Despite trying hard to get something out of the match, the Saints could only manage a consolation goal from another Ward-Prowse header in stoppage time.

The loss means that Southampton have now failed to win any of their last five league matches and will be hoping that they can pick up some much-needed points in their next fixture against Crystal Palace on Sunday. It is clear that this run of form has put huge pressure on manager Ralph Hasenhuttl and his players will need to step up if they want to avoid the drop.
