**Manchester City Rejects OpenDay Offer for Openda**
Manchester City has rejected a £60 million (£84 million) offer from OpenDay, the German sports technology company that had been seeking to sign striker Openda.
The deal was first reported in October last year and involved City paying €55 million (approximately £49 million) upfront, with €10 million (£9 million) per season over five years. The offer came after Openda, who signed with City on a two-year contract in January 2022, announced his intention to leave the club at the end of the current season.
City's decision to reject the offer was not immediately clear, but it is believed that they were concerned about the financial implications of signing Openda, who has been linked to several other clubs in recent months.
In a statement released by City, they said: "We are disappointed that our latest bid for Openda has been unsuccessful. We have worked closely with him and his representatives throughout the process, and we believe he would be a valuable addition to our squad."
Openda, 27, has scored 29 goals in 46 appearances for City this season. He has also made several loan spells abroad during his time at the club, including a move to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this year.
The rejection of the OpenDay offer comes as City continue to face challenges in the transfer market, having struggled to sign new signings this summer. They have already signed forward Sadio Mane from Liverpool for a fee of £36.5 million (£32.2 million), while defender Gabriel Jesus has joined from Real Madrid for £40 million (£35.7 million).
Overall, the rejection of the OpenDay offer is likely to add to City's already challenging transfer window, which could see them looking further afield for new talent in the coming months.
